Come Stop The Abuse N' Dance, Uplift and Promote 4 Domestic Violence Awareness ("STAND UP! 4DVA") with our 2019 FlavAthon™.

OUR WHY!

In effort to ‘Break the Silence’ of Domestic Violence, FlavaFitness Studio will be hosting the 2019 STAND UP! 4DVA FlavAthon™ featuring back to back classes led by over 50 Instructors from throughout the Tampa Bay Area. Together, these instructors have made a Pledge to Dance for a Cause for 24 Hours and MAKE EVERY HOUR COUNT. The purpose of dancing for so long is to create a physical demand that is so extreme, it forces the community to talk about the reality abuse. Thus, sending a message of support to those who may be in abusive situations.

As instructors, we know first-hand how dance/fitness classes aid in the healing process of all kinds of physical and emotional pain. They also create support systems for anyone in need. So, we are using what we know to make a difference! In addition to bringing awareness to this cause, proceeds will fund the efforts of STAND UP! 4DVA. STAND UP! 4DVA is an organizational program created in association with FlavaFitness Studio.

 

MISSION OF STAND UP! 4DVA

Financial control and dependency is one of the many forms of abuse in the cycle of Domestic Violence.  It is also a key reason many find it hard to leave their abusive situations.  Many who escape are forced to leave all their belongings and money behind, making it difficult to afford even just the bare necessities.  Attending group dance/fitness classes provides an opportunity for Survivors to build new healthy relationships while improving physical health, self-image, self-love, self-esteem, confidence, and physical strength.   The mission of "STAND UP! 4DVA" is to sponsor Survivors and their children to attend dance/fitness classes as a foundation to help them reclaim their identity and aid in their healing.  For every $300 raised, STAND UP! 4DVA can purchase a 1-year Membership for a Survivor.
